Now I hold nothing personally against receptionists as they are only doing their job but why is it that those who work in a doctors surgery always want to know your business. This has always frustrated me, especially when they ask why you want to see the doctor so they can decide whether you need an appointment either today or next week. Now surely if I wanted one next week then I'd say can I please book an appointment for next week!

Anyway, this surgery I've been at for the last few months have so far been quite nice. They very rarely pre-book appointments too far in advance and you tend to ring on the day to make your appointment, 8.30am for a morning appointment and 1pm for an afternoon appontment. All was going well until yesterday........ Now I need to see the nurse for 2 different reasons. I need my Hepatitis B jabs and I also need something a little more personal doing. I made the appointment for the second thing yesterday (for in 2 weeks time as they are a nurse short at the moment so are pre-booking appointments). This in itself was a shock, I was expecting to have to go in yesterday or today, but I don't mind waiting, it's not so urgent. I also enquired about an appointment to get my Hep B jabs done. Now I know that as it has been several years since I last had it that I'll need to have the 3 jabs again, only the receptionist yesterday said I would need to speak to the nurse about making an appointment and that she would ring me back today at lunchtime.

I did recieve my call at lunchtime, but the receptionist had passed on very little information apart from the fact it was about my Hepatitis B. I then had to repeat what I had said yesterday about when I had last had it, why I needed it etc. and she then procedded to tell me I'd need the 3 jabs over 3 weeks (something I already knew) and I should make an appointment with the nurse. So I asked if I could make an appointment.... she put me through to the receptionist. I then I had to explain myself for a third time what exactly it was I wanted. I said exactly the same to the receptionist today as I had done yesterday and asked for the jab to be done at the same time as other appointment and after her checking she said yes.

What I want to know is, why could I just not get an appointment for the jab yesterday?? Why did I have to waste my time in explaining the same thing three times over??
